N1 Paving's 2024 Mandela Day Initiative: MES (Mould Empower Serve)

In Partnership with Erick Paving: A Collaborative Effort for Community Impact

In celebration of Mandela Day 2024, N1 Paving, a proud division of the Tip Trans Group of Companies, has partnered with MES (Mould Empower Serve) for a transformative community service project.

N1 Paving, established in 2009 and integrated into the Tip Trans Group in 2017, is renowned for its high-quality paving products and commitment to service excellence. The Tip Trans Group, a leader in the Western Cape's agricultural, construction, and civil construction industries, is dedicated to being a responsible corporate citizen, focusing on social investment and community empowerment.

N1 Paving Mandela Day Project and Partners 2024

N1 Paving selected MES for its Mandela Day project due to the organisation's outstanding and ongoing contributions to the community. During a site visit to MES on Friday, 26 July 2024, the N1 Paving team, led by Sherry Donnelly, observed that the outdoor area between two buildings was unsafe, muddy, and slippery, particularly exacerbated by the high winter rainfall. Pooling water at the doorway made walking outside after rain quite messy and wet.

Upon further consultation and collaboration with MES representatives, including Clarina Hanekom (Fundraiser and Marketer) and Gary Kleinschmidt (Caretaker), we decided to upgrade this area by providing pavers from our Interlocker range and a team to assist with the installation.

The project commenced on 29 July 2024, with Erick Paving (a valued client of N1 Paving) sponsoring the professional installation.

Despite persistent rain challenges, the team from Erick Paving impressively completed the paving the same evening, a task that typically takes a few days.

More About MES

MES Cape Town has been a beacon of hope for the homeless and unemployed community over the past decade. With its Centre of Hope and Safe Space in Bellville, MES offers integrated services that address immediate and long-term needs. The Centre aims to unite various community stakeholders, fostering collaboration and impactful change.

Project Impact

The transformation of the outdoor area at MES will provide a safer and more accessible environment for the community members MES serves. The new paved area will reduce hazards, improve mobility, and enhance the overall aesthetics and functionality of the space.

The feedback from MES was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the significant impact of the project:

"We are SUPER impressed with the job you did. Thank you seems so empty and small compared to the fire in my heart. My chest wants to explode with pride because of this gift... Can you imagine how proud and massively boosted our beneficiaries must feel?"
"You guys have no idea how much dignity you brought. I am forever thankful for this huge blessing. Our people feel seen, cared for, and not forgotten in the puddles."
"Wow! Just freaking WOW!

N1 Paving's partnership with Erick Paving to the benefit of MES underscores the importance of community involvement and the difference that collective efforts can make.

MES encourages everyone to contribute, whether through time, expertise, or resources. Even the smallest gesture of kindness can have a significant impact on someone's life.
